Need to submit an absence note to your child’s school? We can help!

When your child is or will be absent from school, you should submit an absence note so your school knows and can share the information you need to keep your student learning! Here are some tips to keep in mind when writing an absence note:

  1. You must submit the absence note within three school days after their return from the absence – of course, you can always submit your note in advance of the absence if it is planned!
  2. Your note should include your child’s first and last name, student number, the date they were absent, and the reason for the absence. Some absences, like doctor’s appointments, may require additional documentation.
  3. Every school has a different way to submit absence notes. Ask your child’s teacher or contact your school’s front office to ask how they would like the written absence note to be submitted.
